One of two portraits Annie is known to have painted of Dame Millicent. The screen in the background is in different positions in the two versions, and the sitter also appears to be wearing different rings (Westminster left, Tate right).
Presumed to be “[Lot] 82 PORTRAIT OF DAME MILLICENT FAWCETT, in academical gown 29 in. by 24 in.” listed in Annie’s posthumous studio sale catalogue.
The Tate version, aquired in 1930, is a slightly larger work.

- History: c. 1910 (ref.); assumed to be same work (same dimensions) as that listed in Annie’s posthumous studio sale catalogue, “82 PORTRAIT OF DAME MILLICENT FAWCETT, in academical gown 29 in. by 24 in”; preparatory oil painting c. 1910, sold at Christie’s London in 1959 (know from a black-and-white photograph held in National Portrait Gallery archive); Sotheby’s 1970; Christie’s 1973; with Richard Taylor Fine Art Aug 2021, sold shortly afterwards (noted no longer listed at Richard Taylor 5 Sep) to Palace of Westminster.
