- History:
- 1865-1870 – artuk.org.
- 1879 – “Col. Wolbert” (sic, should be Col. Volbert) (325) “by Miss Dacre we have to recognize a work of masculine simplicity and strength that is scarcely infected at all by the peculiar limitations of the [Manchester Academy] school. This is, to be reckoned, one of the excellent pictures of the exhibition. If as we are to believe, it is the effort of a young artist, there is more reason for watching with interest the progress of Miss Dacre’s career. With a keen observation of individual character is combined a system of execution for directness and sureness of touch and we are left to desire greater purity and refinement in the tones of colour which are skillfully combined” (8 Sep 1879, Manchester Guardian) [1].
- 1904 – “a spirited study of a head “Colonel Volbert” (29 Sep 1904, Manchester Guardian) [Mike Stewart].
- 1927-1928 – Exhibited [Manchester?] “Dacre, Dodd, Wood”.
- 1932 – “gift from the artist“.
- Location: Manchester Art Gallery.
