Sotheby’s 1981 sale of ‘Joan of Arc.’

Obtained a copy of the 1981 Sotheby’s catalogue which includes Annie’s ‘Joan of Arc.’ A beautiful, fully illustrated catalogue, all in colour. A few favourites are reproduced below.

There is no additional information on Annie’s work – I was hoping for information on provenance, but there is nothing other than the painting’s size, that the painting’s title is “inscribed on the stretcher” and, thanks to a note of hammer prices found inside, that it sold for £750 (equivalent to about £2,900 today).

Shown below are (1) George Frederick Watts, She shall be called Woman, (2/3) Dante Gabriel Rossetti, The Damsel of the Sanct Grail / Snowdrops, (4) Jean-Francois Millet, La Porte aux Vaches par Temps de Neige, (5) Giovanni Fattori, Returning Home, (6) Edward Burne-Jones, Poesis, (7) Albert Ludovici, Jnr., Posting a Letter.
