A new work has come to light, ‘Young girl in a white dress,’ thanks to a kind contribution by a descendent of Annie’s extended family – a small oil sketch which doesn’t relate directly to any other work that I am aware of.
Annie was recognised as an especially gifted painter of children in her own day, her main regular income being from portrait work. This may well be a preparatory work for some untraced or uncompleted commission.
The original photo was taken at an angle and either age-browned or artificially dull-looking because of lighting issues. It has been computer-straightened and the colours adjusted to represent the original quality of the sketch as best as I can manage.
This bring the total number of Annie’s works (including ‘attributed’) for which there are images to eighty-eight.
