Lady Mercy Marter (aged 15 or 16), daughter of society beauty, socialist and social reformer Frances Evelyn Greville, 5th Countess of Warwick. The field on which the horse is standing is closely based on the study Flowers in a meadow, sold at auction (twice) in 2016.
